It is really nice and well thought out. I could accept $800 for the price point.

Heck, look at the Kettle they have ..... $1299.00 Even that is high but for the price they're asking for the Summit it should be the size of the Kettle Ranch with the features of a Kamado style grill.

I like it overall. There are some cool features for sure. Like the rest of you, I think they are a little too proud of it. I could see them selling it for $1000.00 if it included the cart. All things being equal of course. Compared to a BGE, this has a nest, the cart model offers the shelf space and the added bonus of gas ignition (more of a gimmick in my opinion) it would still be cheaper than a BGE comparably equipped AND it is larger than a Large BGE so it does have it's merits. At $1K I'd say the version with the cart would be a good buy. With all of that being said, I'll stick with my Kegs. They are very well built and come ready to roll right out of the box for $900.00. I used to think that was too high, just being honest, but now after seeing this from Weber, the Keg is an absolute steal.
A revolving door of cookers and smokers. Some are keepers, some are here today, gone tomorrow!

All I was hoping for was a Gourmet System Grate for my 26 ! ! !

So, at FireCraft, for about TWO LARGE, I can get:

 - the new Weber Performer,
 - the Primo Oval XL & a Cypress table, or
 - the BigJoe & a Eucalyptus table (bring your own jigsaw).

I mean, I guess if I was really looking to drop that much on a new cooker, the Weber would be in the mix, but it is apparent that the suits up in Illinois were not thinking of any of US when they came up with this.

If had anywhere near that amount laying around,  burning a hole in my pocket, I'd probably just try to hold onto it until I could put together another five Benjamins and get a Memphis ! ! ! !

Possibly, but if they weren't in the market for either before(bad marketing on both of their parts)I don't see them being in the market any more since the new Weber came out.

It seems to me that if you make the best of anything, from whoopee pies to Lamborghinis, people will pay twice the worth and you will always have a market.  Think Thermapen.
Weber has probably produced the best charcoal grill ever.  I think they knew exactly what they were doing.
