Hello all!  Thanks for letting me in the door.

I came across this forum while researching the Char Broil SRG.  My buddy picked up the Big Easy "Turkey Fryer" last year before Thanksgiving and was VERY impressed with the results.

Based much on the info I saw here, and the helpful folks offering up tips (man those baked potatoes look good!), I picked up an SRG yesterday, got it assembled last night, seasoned this evening, and ready to cook my way through a lazy birthday weekend.  Still haven't decided what to do first, but tomorrow should be fun.

I have never used a smoker before, so I'm looking forward to it.  I plan on digging through the archives here for a while, then go as nuts as my wallet and stomach will let me.

I'll see how it goes tomorrow, and share pics pics if i don't manage to screw it up too bad.

Thanks for the welcome!  The whole chicken is slated for tomorrow  :)

There have been some lessons learned today:

1. This thing makes some mighty tasty ribs (hickory smoked, very basic rub)

2. There is a reason they don't recommend grilling while roasting. My top rack of leg quarters ended up getting a bit too done while I was trying to grill up some corn (yeah, so they had a little crunch, I still ate it).  Of course it was getting dark out and I couldn't see what was going on through the grate.  It had held temp very well without the lid, but that grate really holds it in.  You'll notice a distinct lack of pics.....  :-[

Ready for tomorrow!
