Hey Jack, I have that book. Good read! As for bbq travels, that will be it I am afraid. We were planning on hitting the Salt Lick but neither my wife or I can take anymore 'cue and dare I say it may be a while before I even make any myself, lol.
I've eaten these places on my travels so far :
Day one : Bacon Cheese Burger for lunch at a dive bar somewhere in Alabama at a joint called Butch Cassidy's
Po Boys and gumbo with Cajunate at Parkway Bakery in Nola
Day two : "Breakfast" at the Hyatt in New Orleans
Muffuletta from Central Grocery that Caj brought us for lunch
LA BBQ for dinner
Day three : Very light breakfast at Residence Inn in Austin
Franklin BBQ for lunch (with leftovers still on ice, lol)
Slice of pepperoni pizza and Voodoo Doughnuts for dinner
Day four : Nasty breakfast again from the hotel
In-N-Out burgers for lunch on the way to San Antonio
Dinner was a burrito as big as my head, brought leftovers back to the room that will be thrown away.
Today will be breakfast at Drury Inn before we leave to head back to New Orleans
Lunch to be determined.
At this point, I am thoroughly disgusted with any and all food. My stomach hates me and I am miserable, lol.
So......no Lockhart, no nothing closely at all related to bbq. I will do well to ever eat again after this trip
