I got a box today
« Reply #-1 on: May 12, 2016, 07:43:14 PM »
I think The Smoke may be too blame for this. Somebody put this company on my radar. And since The Smoke is the great peddler of LTBBQ, I'm sticking with that story.

Any who. I've been wanting to try some peach wood on something. And since that is never going to happen in Minnesota. I took to the interweb. Fruitawoodchunks.com was the site.

Opened the box.....and wow. What a sweet smell. The sizes are all very similar and the quality appears excellent. Not cheap, $29 for 10 pounds, including shipping.

They smell so good. May stick a chunk in undie drawer like The Smoke does. ???

When I visit the grandkids, (4 hour drive) I run over to a guy who sells wood like that. I can get 3x 10 pound boxes for $60, or 50 lbs for $80. I love using the peach or cherry wood. The great taste makes the expense seem worth it. Next month I'll probably pick up some sugar maple, pear and plum.

I believe you are really going to like that Peach wood Pappy.  I buy all of my wood from Fruita Wood.  I have been doing this
for several years now. I will usually buy a a 20 pound box of chunks in 3 flavors. You can definitely tell the difference between
their wood and the wood you buy from the box stores.

Yup, keep a hunk of peach right next to my "special" sock  :D :D :D :D

You are going to love that peach wood. It is great with all meats.

http://www.charcoalstore.com/c4500/Wood-Chunks   also has peach chunks and chips.  However the chunks are smaller. Really good size for kettles and electric smokers  :)

I get all of my wood from either Big Blue or Big Orange.  Used to be Brinkman, now it's labeled Kingsford.

This past weekend I was competing and we forgot the cherry I like to add to my brisket smoke.  Well, there was guy there selling wood.  Kind of expensive, but the kicker (for me anyway) was the pieces were too big.  I mentioned where I'd been getting my wood and he replied the he sold "real" wood.

So, that being said, is there something inherently wrong with the stuff that I've been buying?
