Here's your answer to opening up a bag of Kingsford you've been listened to and it has been redesigned to get rid of the confusing string  :)

So let me get this straight.  ::) We need a video to show us what we don't need to know?  :o  Hmmm must be another "government mandated" life lesson. ::)

After watching a YouTube video on How To Open a Bag of Charcoal With The String last night I wanted to go out to the garage and try...but it was late. So this morning before coffee, I made my way to my charcoal. Found the string seam, went to the backside and saw a loop. Untied the loose loop and pulled the string from the backside and VOILA! The whole string pulled out!   8)
Someone should have shown me forty years ago! :D

Wait, what?  There is a string on the bag you are supposed to pull????

My dad always just cut the bag open and that is what I have always done.  Never realized that you were supposed to use it....

When I am in a hurry I just grab it and tear it open with my teeth.

Ha...! Yesterday I went out to the shed to check a bag of lump I bought at Costco a couple of weeks ago to see what exact wood it is made from. It doesn't say but I remembered about this post and having had success in the past I tried it again with pulling the string to open. Pulling from the left it opened easily. I also open my dog food ad chicken feed the same way. Sometimes it IS a little more tricky than others but for the most part it usually works.
