ribs saved from the fire
« Reply #-1 on: June 12, 2016, 07:20:12 PM »
I had a small fire...err flame out in my rec tec but I did get the ribs off before they burned up...ha.  Still tasty...this was also the first rib cook where I did not use the 2-2-1 method on my baby backs.  I wanted to try for a less mushy, fall off the bone type...think I achieved that. good bite on them.

Thanks Tom.  Trey from rec tec said a lot of the new ones do this, something about a tacky auger.  He said they are fine after a few cooks and some pellet dust taking away that stickiness.  He also said if I had not tried to "help" the cooker, it probably would have sorted itself out.  DOH. I'm pretty pleased with their tech support.

There's an old adage, I think goes like this....What is most important in life, is not what you go thru but, rather how you go thru it! You saved dinner, your new grill is going yo be ok, and you found out what had happened.  I'd say your on your way to some wonderful cooks! ;)
