Traeger lil tex lid
« Reply #-1 on: June 30, 2016, 11:34:18 AM »
So I noticed that my lid doesn't seal on the lower left corner. If you get down lower and look at the corner you can see light and almost half way down to the middle of  the bottom lid. I put a seal kit on it to see if that would help but no luck. I just called traeger and had a hour 20 min wait time so left my number to call me back. I bought it 11/11/15 so still in warranty. Do you think traeger will send me a new lid or is this something I will just have to deal with?

They might send you another lid. A little air leakage in a pellet grill is not a bad thing................

It takes a mighty big gap to leak any significant amount of smoke or cause any undue temperature variations.  Unless you can get your fingers through it, don't obsess over it.  If they send you a new lid chances are it will gap just as much.

did the lid ever fall back all the way - if so the hinge might have bent.

They are made from thinner steel so the fit and finish on them is what it is.

And there will be more flexing with heat and cooling.

I would say not to worry too much about it.

Was able to fix the gap issue by removing some of the seal kit

There policy's seem to change over time, but I just emailed pics of the pit showing the effects of smoke leakage, and they first sent out a lid that did not improve things and then sent me the whole new Barrel. Others have had success with gaskets. This was 5 years ago, so I don't know what they are doing now.
