1st Cook on the Crimson Performer
« Reply #-1 on: July 10, 2016, 01:44:32 AM »
So I finally got the chance to put some flesh and veggies on my grill.  Ended up with Ribeyes, asparagus, twice baked spuds filled with bacon, tillamook sharp cheddar, and roasted garlic and shallot. And we're gonna do some mushrooms and a lil balsamic sauce. Did 2 VERY full baskets off KBB. (Still have some From incredible 4.99 Kroger deal at 4th) I may have started the coals a lil soon because I was getting 825 at the GG above the baskets with my infrared before I put the spuds on for their second bake.  However I still had plenty of heat for the steaks and asparagus. Ribeyes went on at 675 on GG.  Next time I'll run em 1:45 before each flip and 90 deg turn. Mine ended up just under medium which was maybe 3 or for degrees further than I wanted. We loved it and it's a keeper. Super satisfied with my first go.

Here is a pic of my Crimson as requested.. Thanks for the compliments.  It came out better than expected for a first cook, definitely a flavor profile on my ribeyes that is different than my BK regal. Can't fake the charcoal flavor and I/we loved it.  I had a mix of the smallest pieces of hickory, pecan, and cherry that I could find in the bags in my baskets.  Still haven't ordered the vortex. Can't understand why meathead doesn't rate it very high.  I don't base all my decisions on his ideas but I know I've learned a whole lot from him and his sites he's associated with. Please forgive if I'm crossing boundaries as I'm new and have now clue of who likes who.  I've never really been in contact with anyone but Noah (who is awesome by the way) from PBC until the last week or so.  I love the community here. And can't wait to learn more.
