Howdy from the Texas Hill Country
« Reply #-1 on: August 17, 2016, 06:25:15 PM »
I'm about as "newbie" as you can get since I have no experience other than cooking a hamburger on a little tabletop charcoal grill. Just ordered The Good One Open Range smoker/grill and looking forward to learning how to prepare goodies that my friends and neighbors won't take home to feed their dog.

Very happy to have found this site and looking forward to participating!

Well, I was a Cowboy Dealer for Ace of Hearts BBQ which sold the Good One line of smokers. I had a potential customer come over and look at my Open Range and he wanted mine and did not want to wait for a new one. So off it went. That was a Gen 1

I got a Gen 3 last year and when we moved across the mountain we couldn't safely move it to the new cabin.

We are actually leaving the mountain in a couple of days so I could get another one....but they got a purdy Char-Griller Akorn on sale at Lowes I have been giving the Hairy Eye-ball............

Let me know if you need any help with your Open Range........I can run one with one eye closed and one hand tied behind my back  8)

Smoke, you are the reason I ordered an Open Range. Had been doing research and trying to decide between a pellet smoker or charcoal when I came across your detailed review. When I read those sentences about "no moving parts, no electronics, no auger binding, etc" the fog lifted and the sun came out. If I pester you too much about questions once I get this baby just let me know. Lol.

Think you could help me out a little with my medical expenses? I'm sure I'll have some when my wife sees this months credit card statement!

Tee, you gotta get back over here where all those goodies you mentioned are plentiful. I'm in Kerrville so only 20 minutes away from Opa's and maybe an hour or so to Llano. This is Aggie country. All my wife's people are Aggies and happy to say they have adopted me into the clan. Can hardly wait until the first game against the Bruins in early September. If I feel confident enough by then with using my new smoker I'll host a non-tailgate tailgate get together on the back deck.

Can I make my reservations now? :D :D :D

Seriously - you may be the catalyst for getting an LTBBQ Gathering going in Central Texas. No pressure....just look there some of the Member Gatherings threads, and see what a fun time we all have.
