Interesting... The two Texas recipes are (of course) essentially tomato- and bean-free, as are the two from neighboring states (LA & NM). Just as chili should be. As you go farther afield, incorporated tomatoes and beans appear (as if by some sort of evil magic).

Less interesting... I have to admit that the Hawaii entry (Zippy's chili/copycat) is godawful but extremely popular locally. I can only hope that the rest of y'all are prouder of your region's submission that I am of mine.
