I can't explain the way my mind works so I won't even go down that path, lol. I woke up this morning wanting to make Sloppy Joes. I don't recall ever making these except for when I first got married I think we may have dumped a can of Manwich in a skillet of browned ground beef once. I do know that my wife wouldn't touch a Sloppy Joe even it were covered in 100 dollar bills :P

I came home from work early so I went by the store to pick up a few things. When I got home I took a pound of ground beef and made meat balls out of it and dusted with SPG and slapped'em on the Traeger to get a little smokalicious flavor on them. While that was rocking and rolling I took a small onion and a little bell pepper and some celery and slung'em on the flat top. After they got mostly soft, I plopped them in a pot that had some brown sugar, tomato sauce, worcestershire, ketchup, bbq sauce, a little cayenne, salt and pepper and mustard powder. I then crumbled the beef into the pot and simmered it about 20 minutes on the side burner. I haven't used that side burner in EONS but since I was already outside, why not?

Before we get to what you came here for (the pictures), let me get you in the mood with a little music :P

In case it doesn't start where I intend it to, go to about the 2:33 mark

Alright, I guess now that you watched that, it's time for me to hold up my end of the bargain.

You can find the recipe here : Sloppy Joe, Sloppy Sloppy Joe

I made it mostly this way except I subbed regular vinegar with balsamic, added cayenne and a tiny TINY pinch of ground cloves. I also added some bell pepper and of course smoked meat.

End result? It's a sloppy joe, still not my favorite thing but these were pretty tasty. Maybe I'll make some more in another 30 years or so ;)

As a kid sloppy Joe's was a constant staple. It brings back memories of my childhood. To me sometimes a simple meal like that just hits the spot.

Looks great to me RG

Actually, V & I get in the mood for sloppy joes every now & then.
I don't go to that much trouble to make them. The canned slop is not really that bad if you start adding some goodies to it.

I'll take a couple of those, RG.  I still love Sloppy Joes.

My fave is to turn Sloppy Joe into Pizza Burgers: Put some sloppy Joe on open face  buns,  top with some mozzarella or American cheese, and pop them under the broiler for a few minutes.  Great finger food snacking!

They look good.  I haven't had one since a spring forward daylight savings morning (somewhere between 1-3am depending when the clocks flipped forward).  I really like the touch of peppers added to the meat!

Ahhh, those bring back some fond memories . . . .

Sloppy Joe night was one of my favorites.  My mom made them with the French's mix.  The best part was that my dad wouldn't eat them . . . .

So, I knew he was out of town and I wouldn't be getting an ass whippin' that night ! ! !
