Spam invented 80 years ago!
Before you turn up your nose......I use Spam 
My preference is for "lite spam " don't worry still has plenty of salt & fat
A couple years ago started keeping at hunting camp.
Use a lot for seasoning, Red Beams & rice , jambalaya... anything you'd put ham or ham hocks in.
Will serve as breakfast meat sometimes.
There are many more varietys than you would believe.

I really like the jalapeno spam and the black pepper spam! It is excellent on the grill!

Spam? I've tried it (That's a bit "tongue in cheek, so to speak, since it's pretty much ubiquitous in Hawaii). Excellent breakfast meat (even served at McDonald's et al here), great on musubi, and particularly good smoked, not to mention its presence in various noodle and soup dishes.

Be careful though; it's been known to attract large numbers of vikings singing badly.

Actually Spam is one of our favorite breakfast meats.

And for a late nite sandwich, nothing beats fried Spam & yellow mustard on white bread. Unless maybe you add a thin slice of onion.
