New to pellet smokers

I've been into BBQ for many years. up and down the interest level. I'm replacing both my Weber gasser and propane smoker with a new Rec Tec RT-700. I'm looking forward to not having to monitor the smoker so much.

Welcome! I'm new to pellet cooking as well. Just got my first pellet grill over the weekend. Looking forward to hearing your experiences with the Rec Tec.

I too was new to pellet smokers about 2 years ago.  I've learned a lot from this forum as well as from trial and error.  A bit of advice that I've heard from many here, keep a journal of your cooks.  That way, if it goes well, you can replicate it.  And if it goes bad, you can figure out what to change.  Welcome from northern Illinois.

Welcome from the PNW. We have had a pellet smoker for years but the wife for many of those years was the primary user as I worked a lot. Retired now and have started to help in the kitchen so to speak. To the point I realized she / we needed to upgrade our grill. Now the learning and fun has started and it's great. Keep us posted on victories and failures id such a thing should happen. Plenty of friendly and helpful suggestions to be found here.

Welcome from all of here in middle Georgia.

I have made it to the point of actually considering buying a pelltizer.

I'm looking forward to your early cooks and how you like using it.

That is great advice. No matter what your heat/smoke source is, keep notes. Only way to standardize success.
