Hello from South Carolina!
« Reply #-1 on: August 13, 2018, 10:21:06 PM »
Hello all,
I found this site while researching for a pellet grill and applied for membership. I currently have a Vision XL Kamado, Wilmington Classic deluxe gas grill , Char-broil infra-red gas grill, and as of Friday August 10th, a Rec Tec Bull with all the options.

I look forward to having discussions with all of you and will most certainly reach out for advice.

I had my first cook on it this past weekend with some chicken legs with a dry rub, smoked for 2 hours at 225 then finished at 300 for an hour with a liberal application of a bourbon barbecue sauce.
As this was my first pellet smoker I wasn’t sure how much smokiness I would get. We were all happily surprised. The smoke was good but not overpowering.

Thanks again for allowing me to post,
John

Welcome from southern Indiana.
Congrats on your new smoker.
As you probably already know, chicken soaks up the smoke.
You typically won't get a heavy smoke flavor with the pellet smoker.
Low temps will give you more smoke. (150°-180°)

Welcome from Southport NC.
Doing the grilling on a Wilmington Classic, smoking on a Pit Barrel Cooker,
and the only way to eat fish is fried in grease the old unhealthy way.

Speaking of smoking, better go check the butts temperature, been on 11 hours now.

Getting hungry yet?
