Thanks TP and TMB!
I am hoping that the Tide fulfills an un-requited dream of the 'ole Bear's......
To beat Notre Dame! in the 4 meetings between Alabama and Notre Dame - the Tide never beat the Irish...Something that not grates on the nerves of every dyed-in-wool 'Bama fan but on anyone that loved and respected Paul "Bear" Bryant.
As "WE" ( Texas A&M ) had Bear Bryant first ( You Alabama boys stole him - some of us have forgiven you
) and - tho, we felt jilted by the Alabama move - we still knew that the Bear had left his mark of greatness on the A&M program. So, I remember watching Coach Bryant every time the Tide was on T.V. on Saturdays.
I think the feeling about the Bear Bryant/Alabama relationship for Aggies was - like having a favorite uncle that tho he divorced your aunt - you still loved the guy.
So - I will be pulling hard for the Tide to beat the Irish.
But -make no mistake - the next time A&M and the Tide play...I WILL be the 12th man on the field
