I am so sorry to hear of CB's plight. While I never met him personally he and I communicated regularly. I recall when that book was being put together. He reached out to me and asked my permission to include Jan's Original Dry Rub recipe in the book. Naturally, I said yes. I was and still am so honored to be included in the book and was equally as honored that he even asked.
