Cooking/Grilling Rut
« Reply #-1 on: February 27, 2020, 08:38:46 AM »

Hey gang, I haven't been around in a while. Trying to get out of a cooking and grilling rut here. I'll do some cooking on and off lately but just haven't really been up to how I used to cook. Anyone ever been there?

YEP, and if you don't use it soon I'm coming for it in Sept!!    :D :D :D :D

Cajunate, been there myself.   You need to start looking around for something different to spark the grey matter into cooking ideas!

Yeah man, I've been there. With me, it's all about cooking the same old stuff. I find that if I look for something new to make, it fires the spark back up. Trying out new cookers helps too, lol!

Glad to see you on here again ;)

I get burned out -no pun intended - when I'm cookin' on the same thing over and over.  If I get a new grill, I'm on fire again - no pun intended - and eager to try something new.
I recently got a 36" griddle and that really got me going.  I've started honing my skills on the kamado and the success I've had thereon has me going again on the grilling side.
I got burned out on the pelletizer because it seemed like a "one trick pony" and pellets were fairly expensive.  I sold it yesterday.  Now I'm looking for the next new thing.

For me, work travel is the killer ... I went almost five months without firing up my pellet grill or my gasser (though that's been nearly retired since I bought my Blaz'n).  I did some close to 20lbs of prime rib around Christmas, and some ribs a few weeks ago, but I'm on the road about 1/2 the month until the tournament season ends and I get some time to rest and recuperate.  That being said, I've got some pork belly in the freezer just waiting for a long weekend ...
