Never tried it.
Dumb question wild or farm raised?
Reason I'm asking is the difference in taste and fat content

I have smoked duck for a duck/andouille gumbo(domestic duck). What's your question?

You can use whatever seasoning you would use on any other poultry. I kept it simple since it was going into a gumbo. Salt, pepper, lil cayenne . I did mine on 180-225 for good smoke flavor and time really depends on the temp you're cooking at.
Actually I had boiled the ducks at a low boil to render fat and then moved them to the Traeger for smoke. Next day I skimmed the fat and used it to make my roux for the gumbo. If you're looking to just smoke/cook the duck for eating I'm sure google would be of more help.

Wild or Farm raised?
Wild duck is very lean so it gets tough quick.
Farm raised should do ok with a light smoke and basic seasoning. It's going to take some time so get plenty beer, etc .
Catch the fat, that is what dreams are made of right there. Smokey duck fat gravy....

Don't know yet, going to buy it at a market, I assume it will be farm raised, do they take injected marinade, i.e. Turkey ok, I understand they dry out easily, thanks for the tips, I will post pics as soon as I cook it.

Yes, you can inject them with good results. If you're buying store bought it will be farm raised and unless you're buying from a local farm it will most likely be a Maple Leaf Farms duck. They're pretty good but prices can vary. Best price I've seen is at a Restaurant Depot. Here's a link to they're flyer for this month and duck is $2.79 a lb right now. (on page 2 of the flyer in the middle)

Thanks for the advice Cajunate, I did find them at my local supermarket, it was Maple Leaf farms but a bit pricey @ $7.00 a pound, I'm going to inject it with a butter marinade, will post pics as soon as I cook it.
