New to the bbq experience
« Reply #-1 on: February 14, 2013, 11:56:46 AM »
I am new to the bbq experience.  Recently got a green egg and have been experimenting with chicken, turkey, steak, and hamburger recipes. Does anyone have any recipes or advice to give about cooking with the green egg? Any guidance is very much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum, srl. I don't have an egg, but my younger brother is in the process of buying one. I'll suggest he joins to share recipes and ideas.

Hello and welcome from Germany!

I have a ceramik cooker since some weeks and I love it. I can't tell you any specific kamado recipes, but AFAIK there's at least one BGE recipe book.

That kind of cooker is almost universal: great for smoking, BBQ and grilling.

Welcome from Nebraska, srl.  I think the BGE is a great unit.  It was on my short list when I bought my last  grill.  I'll be interested in your experiences climbing the learning curve.  Please post a lot (with photos) for us.

Welcome from NW Ohio.  Can't help you with the big green egg, but understand it does low and slow real well.  Looking forward to seeing how you do. Someone around here knows something about everything. Pam  .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

Yup, it is true, he guards the pickemuptruck during the week and hangs out with me by the pits during the weekend..... ;)

Welcome from mid Alabama. I believe several members have BGEs or other Kamado style grills and you should be able to get some help. All in all it is a charcoal grill with some learning curve to it.
