SLUF Checking In
« Reply #-1 on: March 24, 2013, 11:43:04 AM »
SLUF = Short Little Ugly Fellow  ;)

Although I may be wrong on the "F" part.

Anyway, I just bought a MAK Grill 2 Star and plan on using the heck out of it in the next 3.5 years until I retire. Then it goes to our daughter and her husband.

Looking forward to finding some good recipes here and maybe even sharing a few.

Currently have about 5.5 pounds of cured pork bellies in the smoker for home made bacon. Lit it off with apple wood pellets at around 1:00am this morning and will probably pull it out late this afternoon. Can't wait until next weekend to give it a taste.

Welcome from North Carolina.  Where are you from?  Tell us more about yourself.  What are you going to cook on after you retire.  I didn't really start any heavy cooking until after I retired.

Low impact does not apply to our waistlines, however.

Well thank you everyone for the warm welcome.

I live with my wife in Covington Washington which is about 30 miles southeast of Seattle.

When I retire we are planning on buying a motorcoach and travelling for a few years. When we do settle down it's going to be someplace warm and sunny. I have lived in the Pacific Northwest since I was 3 and have hated it since I was 10. Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, and Nevada are some of the places we will be checking out. Even with a 40+ foot motorcoach, it would be kind of hard to drag a MAK grill around with us.

And no, I don't think Tommie and I are related, but my dad was a long haul trucker, so I suppose anything is possible.

From Northern California

Last I heard, MAK is working on a portable/tailgate unit.  Can't wait to get my hands on one ... Should be ready by the time you retire!  I couldn't wait so I bought a Traeger PTG to tide me over until then  ;)  Going to take the PTG with us on the road this summer when we visit Alaska for 5 months  8)  :)
