Hello from an old friend
« Reply #-1 on: April 28, 2013, 10:17:22 AM »
Hello everybody.  It has been awhile.  How have you all been?

Sorry for disappearing for a bit.  Things here have been rather busy.  I think the last y'all heard from me, I had just did a job change from one group to another at work.  Well, I'm still there but they have been making me earn my keep.  At work, I'm busier than cook offering free food at Memphis in May.  :D  Things on the homefront have been good as well.  Both boys are growing like weeds and eating us out of house and home.  Ann has been pulling her hair out so I've been pitching in more there to at least run interference for her!

Admittedly, with my schedule, I didn't use my RED much last year.  It sat neglected.  The troughs were rusting through and the grates were pitted pretty bad.  Time for new parts.  A little over a week ago, I went out and bought replacements.  Of course, after I bought my parts, Charbroil sent me a link for discount on parts!  lol!  By buying the parts, I'm committing myself to get out there more often this summer and cook.

It has been nice out this weekend so it was time to start.  Last night's dinner was an old standby to get myself up and moving again.  I humbly submit cedar planked salmon with roasted potatoes and roasted cauliflower.  I'm sure the rules haven't changed about "pics or it did't happen" so here is a shot.  Tonight I'm getting back out there with another perennial favorite: grilled shrimp in a creole sauce.  If I get the chance, I will post a pic from that meal as well.

I can't promise how often I'll be on but rest assured all y'all have been on my mind while I have been away.  It is good to be back!

Johnny

PS: What are the prevailing feelings about SOTG nowadays?  Are both forums still active with the old guard?  PM me your thoughts if you'd rather talk privately.

Welcome back, Johnny.  I remember you well...you're good on the grill.  Looks like you still have "the touch".
I'm glad you finally have time for grillin' and postin'.
I don't think these guys are as tough on you if you don't post pics.
But wait till you see what Dee can do now.

Hey Art (ACW3), how did they get Yuengling down in NC?  Today, I went and bought some today and they put the labels on upside down!  I am wondering if that beer was bottled on a Friday afternoon or a Monday morning?  :D

Welcome back, that shrimp looks awesome! Sounds like you are at that point in life when you are working your butt off, raising the kids and taking care of care of family. It will wear you out but there is nothing better. As crazy as this time is enjoy it and one day you will be able to retire and play and cook for grandkids.
