How did you get your user name?
« Reply #-1 on: July 15, 2013, 03:23:37 PM »
It is too hot to do anything outside and I was wondering how all got their user name (handle). Some look like a good story!

Mine came natural after smoking a lot of food and also cigarettes, please no preaching, I am not proud of it. I have been smoking since about 12 and I'm 71 now, a lot of years. I am afraid to quit, most I know who did seem to fall apart and get other problems or died from it anyway. I don't think my body would know what to do without the nicotine.

Just tell your story if you will! Smokin Don

When I joined the CharBroil forum (very 1st cooking forum for me) I just use my initials.  Didn't think of any neat names at the time.

Been TMB for so long I hate to change , folks may not know me  ;D ;D

Seriously?  "Ka Honu" is Hawaiian for a green sea turtle.  I'm a green sea turtle in Hawaii.

I couldn't think of anything "catchy", so I went with my initials.  Yes, I am the 3rd.

I just wanted to describe myself perfectly. (no, not really)

Actually, several years ago I had a few questions about infrared cooking and found the Sizzle on the Grill website. I liked CB's handle thinking that it meant CharBroil and not knowing that it actually meant Chef Barry .  I wanted to keep with the theme of the website so I chose IR (meaning InfraRed). The 2dum just described myself perfectly. (really)......and besides, the name "Ka Honu" was all ready taken.

There just so happens to be 5 tenpoint whitetail deer racks on the walls and shelves in my office. Still waiting for number 6 to come along.

Got this one with the truck. Should have seen the Sherrif's face when we dropped the tailgate to put him in and there was 6 more laying back there!

This was my very first antlered deer on my 2nd year bow hunting. He's not the biggest but he still went on the wall!

I do not know what it is, maybe my scent or something, but I have been absolutely plagued all my life with women. I just cannot keep them away from me, even at 70 years old. I don't know what it is. When I am in the supermarket, they just come up and ask me to reach for this or advice on a product. This happens everywhere I go. And, my wife sees this happening and she comes running right over and flashes her wedding ring and holds on to me. So my friends used say to me: "you old dog, you". And, this has been going on since high school. It's like a curse. When I was in uniform, it was even worse especially in dress blues. I can't explain it.

So, I have been called by my wife and some of my friends a "Very Old Dog". That is why I use this forum name.

Have a great day!

I paid my way through college as a bouncer and bartender back in the mid-90's ... right at the time NTN Trivia in bars was really picking up steam.  Since I was (am?) a know-it-all I got in the habit of wagering on trivia games with customers and coworkers during the slow hours and needed an easy-to-remember screen name.  The first half is the university I did my master's work at and the second half is my college fraternity ... easy peasy.

When I was growing up my Dad always had to have shirts with two pockets, one for his glasses and one for his cigarettes so one of my uncles always called him Two Pockets. When my wife and I started selling stuff on eBay years ago we were trying to come up with a handle and since in our house we had two types of money "our" money and "her" money I suggested TwoPockets and it stuck.
