What is your favorite shape of grill/smoker?

forget about the fuel type. Do you have a preference for a square/rectangle or round type of grill/smoker and why?

I will start off: I tend to like the rectangle style better. I feel I get a more even heat across where in the round style the heat tends to be more hot in the center and cooler on the sides.

It also seems to be easier to lay on food on a rectangular style cooking grate.............

It really does not matter as long as I am not seeing double.

However, in order to help start things off, I will say the offset round look. Even, the Yoder pellet grill has that offset look with the controller attached to the side. To me, it looks like a smoker should look. Just saying.

Preference is a round offset with a square fire box and a vertical smoker/warmer attachment.  Most used is my WSM 22.5

I do love my WSM a lot.  I would like to get a meadow creek pr36 charcoal grill.  its a rectangle grill.  indirect / direct / water pan, charcoal pan / pull out tray and V bar down the middle for 12 hour fuse burns.  i do love my weber kettles a lot.  a whole lot.  you can cook anything on a weber kettle.  i always liked the round barrel of the traeger lil tex.  i think the round barrel just looks like a smoker.

I've grown up on rectangular cookers.
I've had 22 in weber kettles & round WSM 's
I still prefer rectangular for all around cooking , but the WSM is hard to beat as a smoker

I can't think many instances where I've used a round smoker/grill, but the new Char Broil SRG I have on order might change my mind 

One reason I favor rectangular grills is for ribs - Costco sells a package of spare ribs (they call them St. Louis style, but they still have the rib tips present) that contains 3 racks per package - just enough to properly cover the cooking surface of the Traeger pellet smoker I like to use for ribs.  The rectangular cookers seem to maximize the usable cooking surface area quite well.

On the flip side, my mother had a Kamado (round ceramic cooker) about 35 years ago that did spectacular BBQ chicken.  I bought a Big Green Egg - Mini for the RV a couple of months ago, and I must say that it is lots of fun tending the mini while it is burning it's lump charcoal.

The bottom line for me is that I like them all, each for a particular purpose (at least that's the story I'm telling my wife, and I'm sticking to it)
