Yes the USB's deceiving symmetry causes problems, but does anyone remember "life" before them?  We had serial ports and parallel ports with lots of little pins that would sometimes dislodge and not hook up.  Then, if you did get a good connection, you had to remember to screw in the plug holders so it wouldn't fall out.  After that, you had to go into some mystery menus and make certain the computer recognized and addressed the port properly, changing the settings if it did not.

I'll take turning the USB thingy around over the old ports any day  ;D

I use a Sharpie and put a mark on everything that plugs in. I also put a thingi from the bread wrapper with the name of the appliance/cord on it too. Just in case. I hold the cords with the metal binder clips to control the cords also. Anything to make it easier.  .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ
