As a retired school teacher, I can honestly say that I didn’t see this often enough.

I try my best to have my children (13, 11, 4) call adults "Mr/Mrs. last name"  Even with friends of ours, they still refer to them that way.  I think it makes a huge difference.

Yes sir I do remember the belt! And it does make perfect sense to me too! At times I wonder
about the young kids growing up with lack of respect and then you see their parents who are
encouraging this by their total lack of respect for anything. Old school may be old fashioned,
but it worked.  At least with the people I grew up with.

My old man used to have a thick white leather belt that I know he never wore (I don't think he ever wore anything white other than underwear).  It looked like a bad disco nightmare, and it scared the crap out of me.

I remember my dad's fireman belt...it was huge..or seemed so..only took it once..then I learned. He got all 5 of us down in the living room one day and everyone got a lick. That way he knew whoever did whatever..that he got the right one. Geezzz.  Did I mention I was a quick study? Pam   ☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི

Belt??   Mom would whip out the wooden spoon and take care of us  ???  You know the one she cooked with for years that's hard as a rock and could paddle a small boat!!

I joke now, but when Kimmie and I were first married she had a hard time getting the a drawer open.  When it did open all the utensils hit the back of the drawer and it sounded just like the drawer did when Mom got the spoon it sent CHILLS up my spine that I will never forget.

If more kids had that memory we wouldn't have the troubles we have now
