I'm thinking about getting a meat slicer... not like the heavy duty one we have at the restaurant but something for a home kitchen.

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

I went with a used 9" commercial because I didn't care for any of the model's I tried that are designed for the home user. It's strong enough to do the job and small enough to move around and store easily.

What features are most important for you Mike? If storability is a priority - so you do not have space for or want to move a commercial unit around, you may want to consider the Chef's Choice brand. They make several models ranging from $100 -$500 dollars, feature dependent.

I know several members here have various models. The # 632 is very popular.

Hope this helps-

I just might have to take a closer look at the #632 also. My slicer is very old, at least 35 years, and not very high quality either.

I bought the Chef's Choice model 632 after a fair amount of research on price, features and storability.  It was a excellent choice for my purposes.  It will slice deli-thin, as in you can read a newspaper through it.  No complaints.  I would buy it again if I was shopping for one.

You may want to check Craigslist for a good used one.  Dee

I have a 10 inch LEM knockoff that they sell on eBay. You can not tell the difference with an actual LEM. No regrets on buying it. Good value

I would suggest staying away from the one that the sausage maker sells for $629. I went through 3 of them before I told them what they could do with their slicers and that I wanted my money back

Costco may not have it in the store but you can buy it online at their website.  Just search on "electric slicer".
