Making Sunday lunch and assorted Sunday cooking (picture heavy)
« Reply #-1 on: March 23, 2014, 06:07:31 PM »
Wanted to try something different with the crusty bread recipe and do some prep cooking to make this weeks dinners easier. Last night I mixed up a couple of batches of dough and after breakfast this morning I made my first hot dog buns with my new bun pan and did a flat bread experiment with the other batch.

Here's the finished buns, 350 for 30 minutes with an egg wash

Here's the flat bread laid out before it's trip to the 350 oven

I sprayed them with olive oil and dusted a couple of them with garlic salt and Italian seasoning, I didn't get the color I wanted so I think next time I'll use melted butter or egg wash

Judy's been wanting me to break out the Panini grill with some of the breads I've been making so I took some of the flat bread, buttered the bottom and layered pecan smoked swiss, muenster, gouda and some Canadian bacon from the freezer. Here's the before and after.

And plated up on the fine china for lunch, she said it was the best Panini I had ever made her

She likes hard boiled eggs for after her morning workout so I made her a dozen and a half of the oven baked hard eggs, 31 minutes at 350. It's so easy, put them in the muffin tin then when they come out of the oven they go into an ice water bath and then the fridge. Don't worry about the brown spots they come off in the ice water bath.

To finish the day off I have a lemon pepper chicken in the SRG for a meal or two this week and I'm doing some Carne Picada Taco's for tonight's dinner and some lunches, I've got some smoked brats and some venison brats in the freezer to use with the hot dog buns.

Looks good.  Still having a hard time imagining eating hard boiled eggs after working out though.

Thankfully everything is finished, we've eaten dinner and the cleanup is done. Here's the SRG Lemon Chicken, after it cooled I quartered it up and bagged it for later this week

Here are all the players for tonight's Carne Picada Taco Meat

Seasoned, browned and cooking down 4 cups of water to bring out the tenderness

Meat's all done and ready to make taco's

And last but not least, here's all the ingredients for a make your own taco dinner and yes that's smoked cheddar to grate right on your taco

Made some sausages that would go good in the hotdog buns yesterday. Good batch of cooking
