Datil Peppers
« Reply #-1 on: May 20, 2014, 01:39:55 PM »
Picked my first 4 datil peppers off one of my plants. Picked green instead of orange.

Thinking datil and cheese summer sausage or datil-n-bacon smoked cheese :D

I ate one with some cheese, it didnt feel that hot. This might be an old pepper scale.

Just a little dated, the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion, Bhut  Jolokia (aka Ghost Pepper) and the Carolina Reaper have since been developed.  The Carolina Reaper is now the hottest at an average of 1.5 million SHU on the Scoville heat scale with some of them as high as 2.2 million.

You bet it is and I know first hand what 1.5 million SHU will do to your system. I tried a hot sauce called Da Bomb, which is the oil extracted from the seeds of Habanero peppers and it is rated at 1.5 million SHU.  There is also a similar sauce where they extract the oil from the seeds of Ghost Peppers, it is rated at 7.5 million SHU.  I haven't tried it yet, if and when I do, that may be my final act before I get planted 6 feet under.  :P

The Datil sauce you sent home with me was gooooooooood.  I was surprised that it wasn't as hot as I first suspected.
