It rained from Christmas eve thru the 26th requiring a change in menu & cookers.
The original plan was a turkey, cooked in electric big easy & a leg of lamb cooked medium rare over charcoal , but I cooked the turkey in a propane SRG drug under my deck umbrella & bought a spiral cut ham.
12 lb fresh bird brined for 24 hours in 1 gal water , 1 cup K-salt , & 1 cup sugar.
I brine a turkey in a 2 1/2 gal zip lock, put in my insulated hunting bucket cover with ice & it's good to go for 24 hrs sitting in garage.
Bird injected with 3/4 lb butter, 1/4 cup bacon grease, mixed with 2 tbsp Tony's.
SRG loaded with cherry chips Cooke don high 1 hr then turned down to low till reached 165F

Looks like the rain did not dampen your spirits - or the ability to produce another great cook
Terry! Sorry...my goof!
Looks great! I really like how you set up your brining bucket.
It would be great if you did a detailed photo of how you used the minnow bucket, and then the wrap on the outside to help maintain temp.
Thanks!

You did good.. looks great to me..and it has to be pretty. I brine in a 5 gallon bucket too..no ziploc bag tho..turkeys are too big for the bags. Love the cold garage trick too, been using it for years. Pam ★*˚°。°

That's a good looking bird LA! Glad to see the weather didn't stop you.
You could do it in the garage as well, I have a few garage cooks under my belt 8)

You just need a big fan that's all. I have one of the HIGH I mean high volume fans and it really helps out.
Besides if the house smells like a BBQ place is that so bad? ;)
