Title: Electric Big Easy Test
Post by: LostArrow on December 30, 2011, 11:03:23 PM
I noted a  some new owners had problems with the production EBE.
I've never had a problem with my prototype.
Got a production one last week & since today was a rare beautiful Dec. day, sunny & high of 71F, I played with my cookers while drinking wine
First assumption , while recommended to NOT use extension it's not practical, the cord is so short that smoke will enter your eaves.
All temps measured are with infared thermometer measuring pot temp @

20 min of heating.

Prototype with outdoor extension 15 FT, unknown gauge but rated 15 amp 470F
               With 50 FT 12 gauge. 510 F
Extension may make some difference, heavier gauge ( smaller # is better)

Production ( all with heavier  gauge extension )
                No seasoning.     375F
Interior pot seasoned   525F ( hotter than prototype )
                Interior & exterior pot seasoned 565 F
SRG.    640F
My prototype cooked great, my production gets as hot or hotter & I expect my first bird tonite will be great!
