Title: cooking vertical in the SRG

cooking vertical in the SRG

I like to keep my birds in a vertical position in the SRG when I cook them

As some of you will remember, last year I rigged a rotisserie rod up through the middle of my SRG basket.
I also learned that I get better results when I cook birds with the legs towards the top, since the SRG cooks hotter towards the top and this helps the dark meat get to 175° at the same time the breast meat gets to around 160°

I like my vertical skewer but there is an easier way to do this
You can buy the simple poultry rack that is made for frying turkeys in oil, in a big pot
this is one I picked up at Academy for $7

You just can't get poultry to look better than that Captain.
