srg questions
« Reply #-1 on: June 19, 2012, 01:33:55 PM »
so, i been reading all the threads here in this section.  you ppl cook alot of stuff on these srgs.  went to the char broil site and was amazed at what they had.  srg, swing out hinged basket, grill top (you can cook pancakes and eggs on them), leg/wing racks (i love chicken wings).  what got me here is that my daughter wants to go outside fire something up and grill herself some hamburgers, hot dogs and what not.  my wife wants to use it to.  i was looking at getting a weber Q.  i've had one before and liked it.  but, this srg is amazing.  one question.  how long does a 20lb tank last ya?  to fill one up here it's $20.  not cheap.  i do like all the things it can cook.  seems like most ppl use them for chicken (which looks fantastic in ya'lls pictures).  did i see one post where someone cooked a pork butt in 5 hours.  how cool.  pellet grill is 12 at least (i don't foil at 160, i like bark).  one more thing.  where did ya'll get yours at?  you guys are great cooks.  if it works for you should work for me and my family.   8)

i do own a mak and a hasty bake.  i love both dearly.  do i need another piece of bbq equipment?  why did you guys buy them?  what do you like to cook the best on them?

thanks

Tommy (TMG) is the resident guru on the Big Easy and SRG Sparky - Several of us have them too...but he is a hardcore user!

I am going to ask Tommy to start a thread about that entire product line....

Ditto! Like a pellet pooper, it all depends on how much and how hot you cook. I can have one last me all summer long, Plus. All I use it for is for wings, legs, thighs. You know, yard bird parts. Also poke chops and burgers. Its quick and easy.
So I lied, I also do my ABTs in it. They come out better than in the Traeger.  Muebe converted to natural gas so he hooks it up to his house. Only problem is that It will not be as portable then. He has a thread here on it. If I find it I will post it. Unless someone beats me to it.

Here it is  The Big Ease converted into Natural Gas

Sparky , I mainly cook on charcoal , but a gas cooker has its place!
The SRG is a good small gas grill, will cook enough for 3-4 people. I use it more in the winter or when weather is bad.
The SRG is a fair smoker.
The SRG is the GOLD STANDARD  for cooking poultry. It'll cook a chicken that's so good you'd rather have than steak.

I must know hungrier people than LA does.

I use it more in the winter or when weather is bad.
Huh?  Why would "winter" make a difference?  Oh, you must mean when it's raining.  Got a cover over the deck to handle that (grin).

The SRG is a fair smoker.
I'd say "middlin'" - not quite up to "fair."  RED is a "fair" smoker.

The SRG is the GOLD STANDARD  for cooking poultry.
Total agreement...

It'll cook a chicken that's so good you'd rather have than steak.
... but don't know that I'd go quite that far.
Everyone is entitled to my opinion
