I would stear away from the zip ties. The small metal piece that zips (if one) is plated with zink. Tie your ends with twine. just saying.

I thought they were all plastics didn't realize, it looks like plastic

Yeah i seen both kinds.
Either way twine is always safer

I did more sticks and this time I went 50/50 pork/beef with the same cure. Using the pork took longer to dehydrate but liked the taste. Not sure if it was better than just using beef but good. Notice, no zip ties.  ;)
