Some of y'all have asked about this grill so I went to visit the people who make 'em.
I am here to tell you that the this grill - along with the competition smokers - are top quality.
The owner is a competition cook. He was very friendly and told me how he sets this grill up for comp cooks. Although the charcoal drawer runs the length of the grill, he loads only half...it is easier to manage. The drawer itself has two layers of expanded metal spot-welded together with support bars underneath - it will never burn out or warp.
I can't tell you more than what they show on their website - http://www.assassin-smokers.com/charcoal-grills.html
It can be used as a direct-heat grill - remove the water pan and cook directly over the coals
Slide the water pan(drawer) and cook over indirect heat.
Close the damper a bit and add wood chunks and you can smoke low and slow.
The guy uses an adapter to attach his Guru to maintain temps.
This grill could replace MOST of all the cookers I have including the beloved offset.
As far as capacity, I can't think of a time when I would ever max this thing out...even for next week's Cookout with Bremer. I'd love to have it sittin' out there in the cook shed, but I have to draw the line somewhere.
Go ahead and search their site and maybe look for some cooks on YouTube (not mine). Just know this...This grill is the REAL DEAL.

I called last week and the shipping would be 530.00 to California.............. :(
-
Someday.... Thank your for your explanation!

That is good to know Jaxson. I am quite interested in one and thinning out my herd of cookers. I am hoping to get there
in time Friday to visit and get a hands on feel for the cooker. Getting it home will be thing. ;)

They probably close at 5 on Friday.
Why don't you call 'em before you come up?
I can store it for you for a couple of years.
just sayin'...

I will tomorrow. But I will probably be at your house by 10 in the morning. Thanks for the storage offer! 8) ;)

Jaxon, you are one great guy to help Mike like that.
I went to their website and that Assassin is a proper grill/smoker. Love the hydraulic helpers for the lid. It seems to do all types of outdoor cooking. It has got to be heavy to cost so much in shipping to get to the mountains out west. It would make a great mountain cooker on The Smoke's deck. And then we could get a true honest review of this machine. The Smoke always does great reviews.

Oh, you want a review? I could do the whole video review in HD from start to finish.
It would serve much better in the shed at Backyard Jack's than sittin' on a windy mountain.
just sayin'... (don't tell Smoke)

The only thing insulated is the door. So, $600 for the grill and another $500 top ship to Cali. No bueno.

No shipping to my house makes for a bargain, butt with my overstock, etc, it might as well be in California.
Less than 3 months till Christmas!!
just sayin'...

Two reviews wouldn't be bad.

I'm lookin' forward to the reviews put up by H O S.
He's gonna work that thing over when he gets it home.

Thanks for checking with the guys at Assassin....looks like a lot of grill/smoker for the money. I was hoping they would bring one down to your place and demonstrate it for us.lol
-
Jack just go for it. Last time I saw pics there was a little room for it.

The problem is that they don't have any "used" grills - the grills they have are already purchased and waiting to ship out.
I may take H O S over there next Friday to see how they're made. He will be able to give you a report.

It's not a matter of not having room in the shed for the Assassin - there's no room for a bed out there and that's where I'd be sleeping if I get something like that.
I KNOW you understand what I'm sayin'...
