Title: Florida????
Post by: RAD on January 16, 2018, 05:32:46 PM
... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 am CST Wednesday...
... Wind Chill Advisory in effect from midnight tonight to 11 am CST Wednesday...

* what... precipitation initially in the form of a wintry mix of light freezing rain and/or sleet, will gradually turn to all   snow from early evening through overnight. Light accumulations of freezing rain of less than a tenth of an inch are expected.  Snow accumulations are generally expected to be between around one-half inch or less and this will be on top of any glaze that forms before from freezing rain before the transition to snow. Strong north winds will cause dangerous wind chills as values fall into the upper single digits to lower teens overnight. Conditions will very slowly improve through noon tomorrow.

The Houston area is pretty much the same weather as the P'Cola area, we're just getting it a bit earlier than you will.  A city of four million folks is pretty much shut down right now ... all schools (including the college I teach at) are closed and we've had over 200 ice-related traffic accidents reported today.  The Southern Snowpacalypse is real.

That being said, since the first day of the Spring semester is a snow day, I'm the idiot running in and out of the house in shorts and flip flops to spritz spareribs on my Blaz'n every 45 minutes ...

They've already call school off for tomorrow in Charlotte.   We're expecting between 1" - 3" so we will probably be out for the rest of the week.

I wonder if Smokin Papa Steve has put on a long-sleeved shirt yet...

A bit of nippance in the sunshine state.

B T W, Backyard Jack's BBQ in Byron will be taking a snow day tomorrow.

They have officially pretty much closed Atlanta too.   Looks like it's going to get Jaxon down in Warner Robins this time around!!!!

I was looking at the radar map a little while ago and it showed it was snowing about 75 miles south out over the water into the Gulf of Mexico...  I mean WTF?????  Has it ever snowed on the oil rigs in the Gulf south of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama before?

Not only a long-sleeved shirt, but looks like I might have to wear my flannel pajama bottoms tonight.  Here in South Florida tomorrow morning's "feel like" temp will be in the upper 30's.   Good preparation for my upcoming trip to Chicago

Enjoying a snow day from work today with pay, hell we had an inch and a half here!!  I spent 50 years of my life in the North, (Cincinnati area), we were expected to be at work no matter what.  I finally got smart and moved South 12 years ago.
Some wait until they retire to move South, others wise up.   ;)

We ended up with about 2" at the house.  They closed everything on Wednesday and 90% of everything is closed on Thursday as well.   What melted with the salt and brine they put out, quickly froze as it never went above about 27* here today (it's 17* now).  Anybody crazy enough to venture out in the morning is GOING to see black ice.

Thinking Friday might be a good day to burn some leave and call it a week and stay on the couch in front of the fireplace another day.
