Whenever I'm cooking at a hight temp and put my Mak into cool down mode I always get a boat load of smoke coming from the pellet hopper. I know its just pellets burning in the auger, on the next start up I get a few mins of charcoal pellets into the fire pot. This is something that just started to happen.. Any ideas whats going on and how to prevent it? And yes I clean the pit before every cook... :P

Have you updated the firmware recently?
There was some code added to give the auger a few more turns during the cooldown cycle to push any burning pellets into the firepot.
Let me check my emails from Bob for the version......

V2.2.

I have had it just over a year now and have never done an update.. maybe I should contact Mak. Thanks for the quick reply Squirt!

The code I got from Bob was from late March, 2012, so you probably don't have that update. Give them a shout and they can get you the update module...
I upload to firmware to my 1 Star via my Remote Boss. (after some trickery with a USB cable, a terminal emulator and old school Xmodem) That process isn't for the faint of heart. ;)

Spoke to Bob.. suggested I clean the side vents.. probably one that goes to the smoker box. Great service!!

Now there is something you'd never thought you would here, "Have you updated your filmware recently" on your BBQ smoker? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Really hope it works for you :)
