Title: Another Charcoal Sale Thread
Post by: sliding_billy on August 30, 2013, 08:48:33 AM
Check your local Home Depot online (make sure to change your location to your actual store).  Some of them are listing Kingsford 2X20s for $4.88 (limit of ten).  The store in Rogers, AR is one of them.  It will allow you to add to the cart at that price and go to checkout for store pickup.  Unfortunately for me, if I change the pickup location to anything local to me, the price changes to $12.88.

With all the Kingsford being bought up now on the site I think it would be a GREAT time to call them and ask them to sponsor the site don't you think??  ;)

It is listed as $12.88 at the New Braunfels location.  I tried calling mine to see if they would match the price, and they said that they wouldn't match a "regional" sale price.  Hope you have better luck.

Thanks for letting me know. I was planning to saddle up and ride over there. This saves me a trip. I guess Academy Sports was the best deal for me.

( I love this little car for swift courier stuff...I get to leave the big white beast parked - and the Scion can haul a fair amount!  I bought the limit of 10 bundles)

Got a much more helpful guy at HD when I called them this morning...  I think I am sleeping on the pile of $4.88 charcoal though.  I better think of something nice to do for my wife.

I couldn't leave well enough alone.  I wrote an email to HD corporate about the 1st store I called refusing to honor their own price (and mostly about the guy pretty much hanging up on me when he told me no).  I got a call from the store manager late last week asking me to come in so that he could make it right.  I went in yesterday and picked up 10 more packs at $4.88 (7 for me and 3 for a friend).  He asked me is that was all I needed.  He would have sold me all he had at that price.  I had my coupe, and my friend had a small vehicle too so fitting 7 2-packs in mine and 3 in his was already a challenge.  I had a 10% off coupon that he allowed me to use, so I got them for $4.39 per pack.  I counted last night.  I have a bit over 700 lbs of Kingsford stacked up in the garage right now (luckily, we get no moisture at all in there).  My wife says I should be good through 2015.  :P

I love it when companies do the right thing. So easy to lose a customer.....hard to get one back.
