Been cooking ribs on my Weber Kettle for some time now and smoking an occasional turkey or chicken.
Will be receiving my new Pit Barrel Cooker tomorrow and looking forward to trying out pork butts, brisket and tri tip. Been checking out the PBC section of this site the last few weeks and thought I should join in on the fun. Looking forward to learning and sharing.

Welcome from Southern California and a fellow PBC owner ;)

Welcome from Minnesota

Good to have you Bob! Many of us here own a PBC. Of course most of us own at least 2 or 3 other kinds of outdoor cookers too. :D :D :D
But the PBC is in it's own category of cookers :D A "power cooker". And - it will make chicken that you will not want to cook any other way again!
Look forward to your participation-

Welcome from another PBC owner in NC.

A warm Illinois welcome to you Bob! I'm a soon to be PBC owner as well.
-
Thanks for the warm welcome. Good to hear from so many fellow PBC owners. Don't you know you should have built your own UDS for pennies instead of purchasing a smaller pricey version. Or at least that's what I have read elsewhere (lol)!

They are NOT the same thing tho Bob. The UDS is not an exact comparison. I know tha there are folks out there that think it is simply because it is base don a drum shape. The PBC comes completely ready to use, and usually pre-tuned for your elevation. If you have any questions about setting it up, or adjusting the intake vent - all you need do is call the fine folks at PBC. They will give you incredible service, and remove the guesswork.
And - there is much to be said for un-boxing a PBC, and firing it up with charcoal. NO assembly. NO fiddling around. Great Support. ;D
You are gonna love it!

Welcome Bob from SoCal.My pbc due second week of june.Great PBC cooks here, they will get you all set up to do it right too.
-
teesquare: I agree with everything you said. It's just funny how on some forums the response to people praising the PBC is that they should build their own. I couldn't build one of to best smokers out there. Will leave it to Noah and Amber!
-
Another welcome from another PBC owner in Minnesota. You are going to love that PBC - just discard anything you "know" about UDS's... it doesn't apply.
-
I respect folks that like to make their own. And - we have members here that like to do that. But, for me - my time - and the engineering that Noah has down to insure it performs in a highly efficient manner - are worth the very fair price, in my humble opinion. The extra hassles of experimenting to get it to work right just are not a fun proposition.
I have built my own smokers and other equipment in the past. But, my time is how I make my money as well...so- to me, the PBC is a "value decision " ;) ;D

Well said. And it's great to support small businesses that treat their customers like friends.
