Cooking without Charcoal
« Reply #-1 on: June 25, 2012, 06:19:36 PM »
Got home @ 5:15 pm.
Temp 98F, wind from north @ 15 , humidity 30%
My cookers in the sun, but because of the north wind the interior temp is only 180F ,so I'm going to have to light the charcoal!

I didn't check the temps on the smokers we have out front in Academy today, but last summer on days the smokers were in the direct sun out by the parking lot the gauges in the hoods of the big smokers would get over 300 degrees.

Good angle for inventive types!  We've got charcoal, sticks, pellets, electricity, and gas . . . what about solar?

Nah, I think it'll be big with the California BBQ Association however  ::)

Every now and then California talks about banning charcoal cookers and wood burning fireplaces.  When they do, we'll have BBQ bootleggers running stuff in from Nevada  ;D

They have already started Hub...

All new construction homes do not come with a wood burning fireplace anymore. It is either a natural gas fireplace or nothing. Now custom homes might be allowed but tract homes built by KB and other companies do not have wood burning fireplaces anymore.

And all the new homes out here are landscaped with all rock and a few desert plants. They are not allowed to put grass in anymore either.
