If LTBBQ Needed A Theme Song......This is It!
« Reply #-1 on: December 31, 2014, 11:13:49 AM »
During the '80's I saw a LOT of live music and without a doubt this band was my favorite live act during that decade. Their style is horn-influenced R&B/Blues. Anything they did was top shelf. Check out their music on youtube. Unfortunately,  I could not find a live video of this song.....but listen....you'll love it!
Big Twist and the Mellow Fellows doing "Too Much BBQ".

Happy New Year Everyone!    Be Safe Out There!

The Robert Earl Keen version is "close to home". Both he and Lyle Lovett attended Texas A&M during the time I was as College Station. Both would hang out at the Dixie Chicken occasionally - playing music, sometimes together.

Glad you like it Bill!
Pete Special,  guitar player in the Mellow Fellows and co-creator with Larry (Big Twist) Nolan, was once in a band with his brother, and a guy named John Belushi on drums. Band was called The Ravens. Belushi and Ackroyd went on to make a movie called The Blues Brothers, which mimicked the hot band at the time, Big Twist and the Mellow Fellows.

Now ...that is something interesting Gene! I can hear the resemblance in style, more than just the "Chicago Blues style" which I happen to like.

I met the current Mrs. T ( and future EX-Mrs. T she tells me...if I don't straighten up ;) :D ) while listening to "Tone Deaf James and the Bed-Rockers"......they liked to point out that "Bed-Rockers" had nothing to do with the Flintstones... ;) :D ::)
