Red Box Smoker
« Reply #-1 on: November 11, 2015, 03:07:00 PM »
Well, I was successful not only on my elk hunt, but I also managed to talk my wife into a belated birthday present, a Red Box Smoker.

I bought the Red Box Smoker on my way home when we drove through Memphis.  After seeing the smoker in person, I was really impressed with the overall quality and ruggedness of the smoker.  The following are a series of pictures I took while unpacking the box.  As you can see, the smoker was really well packed.

This is the knob you “slide” to control the air flow.

This is what the air flow vent looks like.

These are the “exhaust” ports on the top back of the smoker.

Here is a shot of the hinges on the doors.  They look pretty sturdy to me.

I will be doing some testing/evaluating and, of course, reporting my findings of the smoker pretty soon.  I have been in touch with both Smoke and Tee about doing a proper evaluation.  I plan to cook a variety of items.  Stay tuned.

I still have to sell my PBC with cart and my TBE and tank.

Congratulations Art!  It sure is a beauty and a heckova birthday present to boot!
I've been eyeballing one of these since Dave posted about one a while back. But unfortunately, I need a few more good deed awards from Mrs Hikerman before I get her blessing! ;)

Looking forward to seeing your cooks on the new smoker buddy! 8)

Pat,
That is what the dealer said.  He carries the Backwoods brand.  He has a pretty good store (Memphis Barbecue Supply) with lots on display.  I can't wait to get a cook or three under my belt.

Mmmmm.  Successful on the elk hunt and got a new smoker.  But, the smoker doesn't look big enough to hold an elk  ::)  Okay, film at eleven, as they say.  Look forward to seeing the groceries  ;D

One of the dishes to be served at our Christmas party will be smoked elk tenderloin cut into medallions with a blackberry bourbon BBQ sauce drizzled over it.  Are you interested?

Congrats on the new smoker buddy

Thank you, Sparky.  When I said I was selling my PBC and TBE before, I hadn't gotten "permission" from the CFO (my wife) at the time.  The "permission thing" happened during my hunting trip.  I remembered not getting anything for my 70th birthday, so I played that card.  It worked!!
