Grits and Eggs with a side of Fried Pork Belly
« Reply #-1 on: September 05, 2016, 03:38:38 PM »
Breakfasts like yesterday's and today's usually mean a piece of fruit for lunch, but it's well worth it!
Grits for two with 1/4 tsp Slap Ya Momma HOT. After grits simmer for 7 min add eggs, cover and simmer about 7 more minutes. This was my favorite backpacking breakfast years ago. (If you could protect the eggs!) It's comforting, filling, cheap, and on cold mornings very warming! Added with the fried pork belly slices, it's over the top!  ;) One more cup of Redeye please! :D

Pam it's my old backpacking breakfast recipe kinda.
Pre-packed in single serving bags.
3 T quick grits (not instant)
1 T parmesan cheese (shaker style shelf stable)
1/8 tsp Better Buds
1/8 tsp salt
cayenne to taste
1 egg

Boil 1 C water, add mix, stir 3 minutes add egg, cover, reduce heat to simmer.Cook 3 more minutes,  sit one minute. Serve!  The cayenne makes this a very warming breakfast!

Takes me back to when I was a kid.
We would get up early and work for about an hour or two, then go in and
momma would have breakfast very much like that ready for us.
Good memories.
