Maiden Voyage!
« Reply #-1 on: November 12, 2016, 12:08:03 PM »

Well, not really.   It had be used once, and I did some pork chops last night in the dark.

Anyway...   Big 9lb butt, split in half.    SnS+ full to the gills w/ some shagbark hickory on top.   I used some hot coals from my WSM to get it started.

Using my favorite for butts - "Salt Lick Clone".

My new 'Smoke' is riding shotgun.   Heck of a range on this thing.

Obligatory guard cat.

I'll check it again before we go to Church.   It will probably finish in a slow cooker, as I got a late start.

22" Weber Kettle.  My currently-out-of-commission GMG is next to it holding the Thermoworks Smoke transmitter.   8)

Still hanging tight at 224°.   I'll give it a peek in an hour, then we have to head out for a while.

2PM.   Still have lots of fuel left.  I tossed in another handful of briquettes and sealed it back up.    Will check again later after Church. (6-ish)

Last night's pork chops for dinner.    :D

Struggling to stay above 200...   Just opened the vents up wide.   It's pretty cold out now.  I'll let it go a while longer, then bring them in and finish propped up in the slow cooker.

Impossible to see what I'm doing out there anyway..

So far, I'm amazed at how well this thing works!    I'll put on another butt first-ish thing tomorrow morning.   I started late, and didn't get the temps dialed in until almost Noon today.

We won't go hungry tomorrow...   I did a couple butts on the WSM last night in the dark (and throughout most of the day while I was tinkering w/ the SnS+).

BOOM.

The kettle is still holding on at 185°.   I'll pull them in 30 or so and move to the slow cooker to finish.

We live to fight again tomorrow.
