Lunch
« Reply #-1 on: November 30, 2016, 01:18:56 PM »
A few weeks ago, I discovered that Dave lived in my neighborhood. So, the Friday before Thanksgiving, we met for lunch at a local BBQ joint.

(Dave's the good looking guy in the black t-shirt, I'm the ugly mug, but with hair ! ! ))

We talked a while about how he started his company and developed the Slow n Sear and now the Drip n Griddle.  What a great story about how, if you can come up with new and innovative idea, and really work at it, you can turn it into gold.

The conversation turned the SCA. I've followed a little of the threads about Steak Cook Offs, but hadn't done any real research on it.  Seems like it could be a fun contest.

All I'd need to bring is my Weber 26er, my SnS, and a couple of my Grill Grates . . . and they provide the steaks ! !

Dave recommended the brisket sandwich, so that what we both had.

It was very good.  Nice, thick slices with just the right amount of fat.  Way more than would fit on the Texas Toast.

Yes The Smoke Pit makes some excellent brisket.  That's sayin somethin around here.  Most restaurants don't do brisket well here in Carolina.

It was a pleasure meeting Bill and I hope we get to do it again sometime.

I'm also interested in organizing an SCA event here in Charlotte (or attending one if it already exists).  Anyone know/interested?

Dave and Bill,
Have you tried the Midwood Smokehouse?  Their brisket and beef burnt ends are pretty good, for North Carolina.  They also serve pork burnt ends, too.

I've been there several times.  I usually order the brisket there as well. Only been disappointing one time.

Lemme know if you're ever headed down this way with a little time to spare, maybe we meet there.

Same with me.  I can only remember one time I wasn't impressed with the brisket.  It was still good, just not impressive.
