It’s the “Tasty Tuesday!” before Easter! Can you believe it?! According to US Food Report, the price of ham this year will be lower than 2017. According to the National Pork Board, ham is enjoyed at Easter by over 70% of American families.
To help you enjoy your Easter to the tastiest, here are two special ham glazes to grace your ham this year:
Maple-Mustard-Rosemary Glaze
It's a taste marriage made in heaven. Combining sweet and tart for a savory flavor
Ingredients:
½ cup real maple syrup
2 TBSP packed brown sugar
3 TBSP course grained mustard
1 finely chopped fresh Rosemary sprig
Preparation:
In a bowl, whisk all ingredients together. Brush on the ham during the final 45 minutes of cooking/heating.
Mr. Barbecue's All Time Favorite Ham Glaze:
I came up with this recipe a few years ago for one of my friends. It became an instant hit with the family, and is still used to this day. It provides wonderful flavor to any type of ham.
Ingredients:
1 cup of mustard (your choice-yellow, Deli, German-style)
1/2 cup orange or pineapple juice
1/4 cup clover honey
2tsp. garlic powder
1tsp. paprika
1/2 tsp. allspice.
Preparation: Blend all ingredients together in a bowl or mixing cup. Slather on the ham, and use remainder to baste ham every 45 minutes while cooking. Makes approx. 2 cups.
Remember to read the label on the ham BEFORE you purchase it to determine if it is cooked or raw. If you have a cooked ham, re-heat it at 250F until the internal temperature reaches 150F.
If the ham is raw, then it needs to be thoroughly cooked until the internal temperature reaches 165F. If you want, you can smoke the uncooked ham for a while before increasing the temperature of your MAK to 325F, and continue cooking the ham until the internal temperature is 165F.
