Italian Sausage Patties on Grill Grates

At about 10:00 am I was getting hungry; I had some bulk Italian sausage so I would do them on my Grill Grates. It was the first meat patties I have tried on them.

The Grill Grates worked great, I used the bottom, flat side. It was the best browning I have ever had from my Traeger. I did them at 325 deg. 15 minutes and then flipped for another 10 minutes.

I had just made some Benedictine spread; it’s a cucumber and cream cheese mix. I had it and a slice of Vidalia onion with the patty on a flat bread bun. It tasted great for a good brunch.

Sounds great! I like the idea of flipping the grill grates to get the overall contact. I understand the idea of "grill marks" but always felt they missed the full flavor potential. As muebe suggested, I sometimes grill the meat for flavor on one side and appearance on the other. But if I am cooking for myself or family, I will go all out for flavor - these seem to hit that !

I like to use my cooking steel (takes a long time to get hot) the same way.

Nice lunch!

I have 3 griddles plus some GrillGrates. None of the griddles works that fine for burgers and patties than the flipped GrillGrates do.

Nice job, Don.
