Sanford & Son part 2
« Reply #-1 on: October 02, 2013, 05:12:44 PM »
I got a curbside weber gold Sunday & getting it repaired
New cooking grate came in!
Charbroil cast iron fits on either 18 or 22 in kettles.
Cast iron a little thin but for the price $30 delivered from amazon it's all good 8)
The center grate will flip to wider grate for cooking more fragile items.

If it was new or if it was my main cooker I'd get the craycort grate. I've seen one on a grill & if you grill a lot of seafood or fragile items the close set wide cast iron works great.
This was a freebie & going to hunting camp.
That being said I think this great will work fine!

Looking good, LA. I have the Craycort grates. At first I thought I was going to love all the add-ons. At the end of the day, I like the main grates and the narrow for small stuff. I do use the stone sometimes for shrimp and to "steam" veggies. It does work well. I really like the ability to pull a quarter to add or adjust coals.

But the best part is the cast iron and you've got that with this set-up it should be excellent. Can't wait to see some cooks!

That is a very nice looking grill and it is nice to be able to light your chimney with the main grate in place.

I think Ester had a little ripple tucked away in that purse of hers :)

First cook on a weber kettle in 25 years!
Smoked then grilled burgers.
Fire in center with a chunk of pecan.
Smoked about 20 min & then seared .
Served open face with chili.
Really good!

Looks good, LA...
Is there a tool to use to lift the grate to add wood or charcoal?
I hope to roll mine out tomorrow (Fri) for some wings. Will use the offset for the ribs.
B T W, I have a basket just like that. Also have the Weber dual baskets (half moons).

Love a good chili size and I really like the looks of your setup LA.  8)  I don't think you will be going another 25 years between kettle cooks  ;)
