Idaho nachos
« Reply #-1 on: November 21, 2013, 11:55:06 PM »
We have a dish called Idaho nachos in our area which contain ingredients most people typically think of as "nachos", but substituting crisp potato slices for the classic tortilla triangles.  We did our interpretation of that Idaho treat in the form of a baked potato sliced in half, topped with chili, cheese, and jalapenos  Yeah, we know that is just a baker with toppings, but it reminded is of the Idaho nachos we used to get at a place called the "Snakepit", a former brothel in a 19th century mining area in the Silver Valley.

I assume this is the place?  They have a picture of the nachos.  Looks like a great place to kick back and unwind.

That works for me!

I've got to try this! I wonder how it would be with red New Mexico chili sauce.

Wow, thanks for all the comments!  Nothing that special, but sure is quick, good, homey comfort food.

That works for me!

Ed

I think it would work quite well, Ed - I usually put hot spicy peppery things on my food.  The best part is that you can put it on the side and add as much (or little) as you like

Looks really good.

Yes, that's it - I tend to forget the official name of Enaville Resort - the pics are good - I've sat at just about every table that was in the pictures.  My boys and I would go to a couple of the high mountain lakes to fish for rainbow and brook trout - would stop at the snakepit on the way home.  I heard that they were going to go out of business - I do not know if they have.

According to Google Maps, they are closed.  That is a shame.  Looks like a great place to bring the family.  Thanks for sharing this with us.
