Grinding Question
« Reply #-1 on: November 23, 2013, 11:04:37 AM »
My wife is not a fan of course grind beef, texture thing. So I decided to do a fine grind for burgers last night.

The meat was very cold, but my grinder struggled a bit, which it doesn't do when I course grind.

So my question, is it better to grind twice? One course and then through the fine?

Put your beef strips in the freezer for a bit and let them stiffen up.  The blades cut better with stiff meat.  I like to only grind once but that is me.  Nothing wrong with grinding course then doing a 2nd fine grind.  I just find it a real pain to grind already ground up meat.

Enough ain't enough and too much is just about right.

Yes, to get a fine grind it IS better to grind twice. Saves on the grinder. Coarse grind then fine grind
