Welcome from NC.  I retired to NC after living in Herndon for many, many years.  You are right, there aren't many choices for BBQ, much less good BBQ in the area.  I have found that NC, in general, has good BBQ places on almost every street corner.  I have participated in several BBQ Crawl's in different parts of the state.  Always a lot of fun.

Hello Art,

I used to live in Herndon off of Centreville Rd near Floris Elementary school.  They have the big chains BBQ places like Famous Dave and a few independent places, but my wife and I were not happy at any of them.  Surprisingly, we found the best BBQ place up in Albany, NY.  It was located in a neighborhood where we were advised not to go out alone at night, at least not without a side arm.  I wish I could remember the name of the place....  I love NC BBQ style with the vinegar base sauce.  My wife and daughter are not into the tangy, vinegar taste.  When I make my BBQ sauce, I'd make 3 types.  One mild with molasses, brown sugar and honey.  one spicy with the same ingredient, and one spicy, NC style.

James, you sound like a very proud poppa, and who could blame you?  That is quite a feat for your daughter to achieve at such a young age.

Welcome!

I'm in NoVA for a day every couple of weeks or so.  Keep meaning to stop by Dizzy Pig just to look around, but haven't had the time yet.
